About Us

The Pharmacy Consultancy Limited is owned and managed by husband and wife, Kevin and Sue Nichols.

Sue spent her entire professional career in Secretarial and Personal Assistant roles within a variety of industries, including Banking, Manufacturing and Healthcare Services. Within the company, Sue’s principal responsibilities are administrative.

Kevin has enjoyed a varied career within finance related industries, starting with Barclays Bank Plc during the mid-1970’s. After following a traditional route within banking, he was appointed Manager of a mixed retail branch in Hampshire, in the heart of The New Forest. His customers included a variety of small and medium sized local retail businesses, including a pharmacy! He often wonders whether this was the shape of things to come?

After leaving banking during the mid-1990’s and spending three years in a mix of financial management roles within industry, Kevin joined Europe’s largest pharmaceutical wholesaler, AAH Pharmaceuticals in 1996, working for their pharmacy finance company, Statim Finance Limited. In 2005, he was appointed as Director of Statim Finance Limited and Head of Pharmacy Finance for AAH, which included responsibility for a loan guarantee portfolio in excess of £225 million.

In 2009, Kevin decided to pursue other business interests and established The Pharmacy Consultancy Limited. He is extremely well known within the retail pharmacy industry and has a wealth of experience in both finance and pharmacy.

Kevin regularly writes articles for a variety of pharmacy publications and makes regular presentations to healthcare professionals on a number of relevant topics, particularly those which affect community pharmacies. Over the last ten years, The Pharmacy Consultancy had been a regular exhibitor at The Pharmacy Show at The NEC, Birmingham, but following cancellation by the organisers of the 2020 Show due to the Covid-19 pandemic and their subsequent refusal to refund the deposit paid, despite taking out insurance recommended by them, the Pharmacy Consultancy has not exhibited since.

The Pharmacy Consultancy fee structure is based upon the time taken to analyse and present an application to a Bank, which includes detailed cashflow forecasts and profit projections. However, it would be remiss not to make potential clients aware that there a number of high profile firms who offer to arrange acquisition finance for a % of the sum being raised. For this excessive amount, they undertake no analysis, nor do they provide any projections or forecasts – they simply present the client with some blank forms to complete on behalf of the Bank. Since its inception, The Pharmacy Consultancy has arranged more than £50 million of finance for clients.

Kevin has made presentations to AISMA (Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants), ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), the PCPF (Primary Care Premises Forum) and the 2017 Mercia Group Healthcare Conference, in the Midlands. In 2015 he undertook a very successful business trip to India, at the behest of one of his clients. He also holds regular training seminars for Healthcare Managers of major High Street banks.

Kevin is Chairman of an Independent Healthcare Forum and is an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Bankers.
